If you do a quick Google search you will find this basic summary of Picasso's life.
Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and theatre designer who spent most of his adult life in France.
Born: October 25, 1881, Málaga, Spain
Died: April 8, 1973, Mougins, France
There are a number of videos showing Picasso's life with interviews of people close to him.
One video I watched showed him drawing at an easel. He continued for quite a while, starting new drawings as he was filmed. At one point the filmmakers mentioned taking a break. Picasso said “I can go all night if you like.”
His energy, mental strength, inventiveness and determination are very inspiring to me. He was not an artist to be put off by the opinions of critics. His self confidence was a great part of his success.
So many artists of his time, and so many since, have been influenced by his many styles. A favorite book in my studio is ‘Picasso at 90’. He never stopped working. I have done some copies of elements of his designs, and also have been inspired to create my own designs using his styles.
